About The Position

The Junior Data Engineer plays a key role in enabling data-driven decision making at Innovation Federal Credit Union. This role supports the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines, data models, and analytics solutions that power reporting, insights, and operational intelligence across the organization. Working closely with senior data engineers, analysts, and business partners, the Junior Data Engineer helps ensure data is accurate, accessible, secure, and fit for purpose—supporting Innovation’s digital strategy and our commitment to simplifying banking for all Canadians.

Requirements

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 0–2 years of experience in a data, analytics, or technical role (co-op or internship experience considered an asset)
  • Foundational knowledge of data concepts including databases, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling
  • Experience or exposure to SQL and relational databases
  • Familiarity with data visualization and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI or similar)
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • High attention to detail with an appreciation for data quality and integrity
  • Comfortable learning and working with new technologies in a fast-changing environment

  • Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Excel, Teams, Power Platform exposure an asset)

  • Maintain documentation to ensure sustainability and knowledge sharing
  • Follow data governance, privacy, and security standards
  • Support data accuracy, lineage, and consistency across systems
  • Identify and escalate data quality issues or risks in a timely manner
  • Contribute to responsible handling of sensitive and confidential information
