The Junior Custodian reports to the Senior Building Custodian and is responsible for performing the following duties: cleaning and sanitary maintenance of the building; care and maintenance of the school grounds; and performing related work as required. Examples of duties include, but are not limited to the following: Sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing; making minor repairs and adjustments Cleaning and care of floors (wood, concrete, vinyl tile), walls (plaster, wood, cinder block), windows, light fixtures, toilets, wash bowls, and building furnishings and equipment Using hand tools and large cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, carpet extractors, burnishers, and floor washing machines, etc. Replacing light bulbs and ceiling tiles using ladders, lifts, and scaffolds Care and maintenance of school grounds, including litter pickup and removal, sweeping of walks, removal of snow and ice, raking, mowing, and watering grass where designated, requiring the use of hand and power lawn mowers, rakes, snow blowers, and shovels Inspecting the school building(s) to determine the necessity for maintenance work and submitting work orders Checking deliveries of fuel Displaying the flag of the United States according to custom Eliminating fire hazards and preventing accidents
