MBL Technologies is seeking a Junior Counsel - Information Privacy Specialist to join the team. The Junior Counsel is an entry-level attorney role. This position is designed for candidates who are early in their legal careers and eager to develop expertise in federal privacy requirements, documentation processes, and program operations. The role works under the guidance of senior program leads. This role is hybrid and will require two days of onsite work in the Rockville, MD or Washington, DC location.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of the Privacy Act, Systems of Records Notices (SORN), and how privacy requirements apply to federal information systems.
  • Familiarity with related privacy frameworks such as the Open Government Directive or HIPAA is helpful but not required; willingness to learn is essential
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly summarize issues and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, stay organized, and adapt to evolving priorities.
  • Exhibit a proactive, solutions-oriented approach and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to see how individual tasks fit into broader program goals and to identify issues that may need escalation.
  • Ability to support a hybrid work environment, including working onsite at least two days per week.
  • BS/BA degree (required).
  • Public Trust Clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the review and maintenance of policies and procedures related to the handling of personally identifiable information (PII) in accordance with federal and agency privacy regulations.
  • Provide foundational support in preparing and updating Privacy Act documentation, including Systems of Records Notices (SORN), data sharing agreements, etc.
  • Support the drafting, assembly, and coordination legal review packages for senior leadership, including signature collection, and preparation of materials for internal review and external submission.
  • Help track deadlines, reporting requirements, and ongoing legally required checkpoint activities to support program operations and ensure timely follow-through.
  • Assist in maintaining documentation for stakeholder working groups, including charters, membership lists, schedules, activity summaries, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support the logistics and coordination of meetings, trainings, and working groups, including preparing agendas, scheduling sessions, and documenting outcomes.
