Aird & Berlis is looking to fill an open vacancy for a clerk with corporate experience to fill a unique and rewarding role within our Tax department. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a corporate background to gain exposure to the tax group while being mentored by seasoned tax clerks. Proficiency in MinuteBox or a similar corporate database is key for this role. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, eager to learn, and ready to grow within the role.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Corporate or Tax Law Clerk
  • Successful completion of a related post-secondary education program in a legal assistant or law clerk program
  • ILCO certification
  • Knowledge of Federal and Provincial corporate statutes and corporate procedures
  • Knowledge of MinuteBox or similar corporate database
  • Microsoft 365 suite of applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Good judgment and decision making skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Organized
  • Resourceful
  • Detailed

Responsibilities

  • Key maintenance tasks and filings, including preparing of report books and maintaining/updating minute books, (including registers and ledgers) and MinuteBox
  • Prepare general and annual corporate filings, director/officer changes, dividends, redemptions, extra-provincial and business name registrations
  • Conduct corporate searches and analyze filings
  • Liaise with clients, lawyers and law clerks, as needed
  • Assist processing corporate documents utilizing eCore
  • Produce the highest quality of work
  • Accountable for all work assigned
  • Take initiative, attention to detail, multitasking
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Docketing
