About The Position

Partners closely with a Senior Consultant to support all aspects of qualified and nonqualified retirement plan administration while building consulting expertise through training, mentoring, and hands-on experience. Develops specialized knowledge in plan design, compliance testing, day-to-day administration, and client relationship management through experience, education, and certification. Researches complex issues and identifies solutions to address client needs with guidance and support from a Senior Consultant as needed. Takes ownership of personal and professional growth while expanding consulting skills through ongoing education, practical experience, and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Able to perform compliance testing, discuss plan design, prepare annual reports and complete DOL and IRS forms with support from Senior Consultant.
  • Able to prioritize, work on multiple projects simultaneously, work independently and drive tasks to completion.
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications, including Microsoft Office and established databases.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in retirement plan administration, recordkeeping, employee benefits or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in payroll, human resources, accounting or financial services will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of retirement plan administration and recordkeeping systems such as Relius recordkeeping system, ASC retirement plan software and/or FT William preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Client facing experience preferred.
  • ASPPA credentials such as QKS, QKA, QKC, QPA, CPC or NQPC preferred; a willingness to pursue and earn ASPPA credentials upon hire is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a Senior Consultant to build the expertise needed to independently manage an assigned group of Defined Contribution Retirement Plans.
  • Through mentoring, training, and hands-on experience, progressively assume responsibility for performing assigned project tasks independently, seeking guidance from a Senior Consultant when assuming new responsibilities.
  • Consult with clients regarding all aspects of plan design.
  • Oversee day to day administration, annual compliance testing, Form 5500 preparation, trust Accounting, participant notices and plan documents.
  • Maintain client relationships to ensure high quality deliverables.
  • Anticipate client needs and formulate solutions to client issues.
  • Prepare and review deliverables for accuracy and quality.
  • Manage own personal and professional development; seek opportunities for professional growth and expansion of consulting skills and experiences.
