About The Position
We are seeking an ambitious and analytical Junior Commodity Trader to support the sourcing, procurement, and sales of food commodities, including products such as honey, while developing strong supplier and customer relationships across global markets. This role provides hands-on exposure to international trade, market analysis, pricing strategies, and logistics coordination. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, detail-oriented professional who is eager to learn, build relationships, and grow within a fast-paced, competitive trading environment. Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in commodity trading, sales, procurement, or a related field
- Must be fluent in both English and French (written and oral)
- Degree or Diploma in Business, International Trade, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field
- Strong interest in food commodity trading and global markets
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage with international suppliers and customers
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret market data and trends
- Well-organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to think strategically while executing day-to-day operational tasks
- Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment
- Results-oriented with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with ERP or trading systems is an asset
- Willingness and ability to travel for trade shows, supplier visits, and customer meetings (approximately 15-25 weeks per year)
Responsibilities
- Support the trading team in executing buying and selling strategies, including assisting with price negotiations, contract terms, and deal execution
- Develop and maintain relationships with international suppliers and North American customers, supporting long-term partnership growth
- Assist in sourcing products from global markets and identifying new supply opportunities to expand the supplier base
- Support the development of new customer relationships and contribute to expanding the client base across Canada and the United States
- Monitor market trends, supply and demand dynamics, and macroeconomic factors to identify trading opportunities
- Collaborate with logistics, finance, and operations teams to ensure smooth execution of transactions and on-time delivery
- Work closely with accounting and collections to ensure all documentation is accurate and aging is within acceptable parameters
- Assist with inventory management and product flow to align supply with customer demand
- Analyze competitor activity, pricing trends, and market conditions to provide insights to the trading team
- Prepare and maintain trading reports, tracking sales, contracts, margins, and performance metrics
- Support order entry for Sales and Purchase Orders and ensure accuracy of all transactional data
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, including documentation and reporting requirements
- Attend trade shows, supplier visits, and customer meetings to build market knowledge and strengthen relationships
- Contribute to a collaborative trading environment across suppliers, internal teams, and customers
- Other duties as assigned.
