As an Engineer II within the Civil / Structural Engineering Team in Pickering, Ontario (remote work will also be considered), you will be part of the proven team in the Installed Base Business Unit. Core Engineering focus areas: Reinforced Concrete Structural Steel Design Heavy Lifting and Rigging

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (4 years) in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineering License (P. Eng.).
  • Knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria.
  • Good communication skills to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Good problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Exhibits questioning attitude and practices self-checking.
  • Advanced level of specific software tools (CAD, FEA, CFD) and programming skills.
  • Familiarity with the design and operation of a CANDU power plant, with strong knowledge of nuclear design engineering, engineering change control, and related codes and standards.
  • Worked in an engineering role for at least 2 years with structural steel and reinforced concrete design.
  • Experience working on large scale engineering projects

Nice To Haves

  • Prior OPG experience will be considered an asset.
  • Lifting & rigging and scaffold experience also an asset.
  • Execute detailed design engineering change packages for the Darlington and Pickering nuclear generating station.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and non-routine engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems.
  • Solves a range of straightforward problems, analyzes solutions and assesses each using standard procedures.
  • Receives assistance and instructions on unusual or more complex features and possible solutions, as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.
  • Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Builds knowledge of organization processes and customers.
  • Works on special projects, as directed.
  • Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.
  • Utilizes existing and/or acquired technical expertise to find improved technical solutions to support the product life cycle/replacement of current Framatome technologies.
  • Actively participates in solving technical issues identified by project management, business line management or by customer request with the objective to increase business opportunities for Framatome Canada Ltd.

Benefits

  • Salary: $99,000 - $110,000, and may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses. The base salary range is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
