About The Position

The Junior Buyer will conduct business within established supplier relationships. This role involves scheduling purchase orders to support production schedules or requisition requirements, while maintaining minimal inventory and responding to manufacturing and other departments' needs. The Junior Buyer will identify and communicate supplier concerns or opportunities internally, support cost recovery initiatives, and assist in problem resolution discussions with suppliers, ensuring the adequacy and timeliness of supplier corrective action plans. This position will also coordinate the implementation of cost reduction projects and supplier consolidation, monitor project status (cost, schedule, technical, drawing release), and lead corrective actions as needed. Responsibilities include entering cost changes, assigning suppliers, supporting sourcing projects, and preparing/soliciting requests for quotes and proposals based on the defined commodity strategy. The Junior Buyer will coordinate and communicate new component releases and design changes with suppliers and engineering, support part shortages, and drive delivery issue resolution from suppliers. They will execute and maintain approved cost reduction projects, work with suppliers to resolve price and invoice discrepancies, and support the supplier quality function in determining root causes and corrective actions for quality-related issues. Finally, the Junior Buyer will monitor and drive supplier performance for assigned categories to ensure quality and delivery requirements are met, and monitor supplier lead-times and production capacity improvement initiatives to ensure schedule flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct business within established supplier relationships.
  • Schedule each purchase order as needed to support the production schedule or requisition requirement, maintaining a minimum of inventory, while being responsive to manufacturing and other departments' needs.
  • Identify and communicate internally any supplier concerns or opportunities.
  • Support cost recovery initiatives.
  • Support problem resolution discussions with suppliers and ensures the adequacy and timeliness of supplier correction action plans.
  • Coordinate the implementation of cost reduction projects and supplier consolidation.
  • Monitor cost, schedule, technical, and drawing release status of projects and lead corrective actions as required.
  • Enter cost changes, assign selected suppliers, and support sourcing projects.
  • Prepare and solicit requests for quotes and proposals based on the defined commodity strategy.
  • Coordinate and communicate new component releases and design changes with suppliers and engineering.
  • Support part shortages and drive delivery issues from suppliers as needed.
  • Execute on approved cost reduction projects.
  • Maintain and measure cost reduction projects.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve price and invoice discrepancies.
  • Support supplier quality function in determining root cause, necessary containment and counter measure activities for quality-related issues.
