About The Position

The Junior Buyer is responsible for supporting procurement activities for semiconductor and high-temperature furnace manufacturing operations. This role collaborates closely with Engineering, Production, Inventory Control, and Suppliers to ensure timely procurement of materials, components, and services required to meet production schedules and customer commitments. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to develop a career in supply chain and manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of purchasing, procurement, inventory control, manufacturing, or supply chain experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in semiconductor, aerospace, industrial equipment, vacuum systems, or high-temperature furnace manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of electronic components, instrumentation, vacuum components, gas handling systems, and industrial hardware.
  • Familiarity with BOM structures, MRP planning, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience working with suppliers of custom fabricated and engineered components.
  • APICS, ASCM, or supply chain certification coursework is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage purchase orders for production, engineering, and maintenance requirements.
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance and proactively expedite critical materials.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, pricing, lead times, and supplier information within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Review material requirements generated by MRP and place orders accordingly.
  • Follow up with suppliers regarding order confirmations, shipment schedules, and delivery commitments.
  • Work with engineering teams to source components for new product development and design changes.
  • Assist in identifying alternate sources of supply for long lead-time and sole-source components.
  • Support inventory management initiatives to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies, receiving issues, and supplier quality concerns.
  • Track and report procurement metrics including supplier on-time delivery, lead times, and cost savings opportunities.
  • Participate in supplier evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support strategic sourcing projects and supplier development activities.
