About The Position

The Junior Buyer is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted supply of maintenance, repair, and operations materials across two styrene monomer manufacturing sites (Pasadena and Texas City, Texas). This role manages high-volume spare parts procurement, supplier performance, and expediting to support plant reliability and operational continuity. The position requires strong organizational discipline, assertive cross-functional communication, and proactive follow-through.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of procurement experience (MRO or industrial preferred).
  • Experience within petrochemical, chemical, refining, or heavy industrial manufacturing environments preferred.
  • SAP MM experience required
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or 5+ years equivalent experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with strong organizational structure.
  • Assertive communication skills and ability to escalate issues appropriately.
  • Independent problem-solving mindset with strong follow-through discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Coupa and VMI/BMIS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Reliable MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Operations) Supply
  • Manage procurement of approximately 25,000 SKUs including pumps, bearings, filters, couplings, and other critical spare parts.
  • Ensure optimal pricing, quality, and lead times to prevent downtime or maintenance disruption.
  • Manage Supplier Network & Contracts
  • Oversee a large supplier base, negotiate pricing, enforce Master Blanket Agreements (MBAs), conduct sourcing events, and drive supplier performance improvements.
  • Prioritize & Expedite Critical Orders
  • Manage 30+ concurrent purchase orders while dynamically re-prioritizing based on plant criticality.
  • Proactively expedite urgent materials and eliminate aged PO backlog.
  • Bridge Engineering & Suppliers
  • Partner with Maintenance, Reliability, and Engineering teams to resolve specification changes, coordinate technical clarifications, and escalate delays to ensure timely resolution.
  • Provide Operational Transparency
  • Attend weekly OPS/Maintenance meetings and communicate order status, risks, and lead times clearly and proactively.
  • Execute Full Procure-to-Pay Process
  • Manage SAP MM transactions, e-catalogs, vendor-managed inventory (VMI/BMIS), invoice accuracy, and payment compliance.
