About The Position

The Junior Buyer supports procurement activities for service operations and field maintenance teams by sourcing and purchasing parts, materials, and services required to maintain equipment uptime and operational continuity. This role works closely with field technicians, service management, and suppliers to ensure timely and accurate procurement of crane parts and related materials. The Junior Buyer processes requisitions, prepares purchase orders, tracks deliveries, and assists in sourcing parts from OEM and secondary suppliers to ensure repairs are completed efficiently and cost-effectively. Operating in a fast-paced service environment, the Junior Buyer helps manage procurement workflows through Coupa, Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), Smartsheet, and Power Apps while supporting inventory utilization and supplier coordination.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or inventory management experience preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (D365 preferred).
  • Experience using procurement platforms (Coupa preferred).
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to manage high-volume transactional work.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with field technicians and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel required).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with construction equipment, crane parts, or diesel-powered equipment.
  • Knowledge of parts sourcing or technical parts identification.
  • Experience with Smartsheet or workflow management systems.
  • Understanding of procurement processes and P2P systems.

Responsibilities

  • Procurement & Order Execution Review and process service-related requisitions in Coupa.
  • Verify part numbers, pricing, and vendor selection prior to ordering.
  • Obtain vendor quotes and assist with price comparisons.
  • Expedite urgent or time-sensitive purchase orders when required.
  • Track purchase orders and follow up with vendors on delivery status.
  • Parts Sourcing & Technical Support Research crane parts through OEM and secondary suppliers to identify correct components based on technician requirements.
  • Assist technicians in locating parts quickly to support equipment repairs and minimize downtime.
  • Source parts from alternative vendors when OEM options are unavailable or cost-prohibitive.
  • Help troubleshoot procurement issues related to part availability or specifications.
  • Inventory Coordination Review inventory levels in D365 prior to placing purchase orders.
  • Identify available internal stock that can fulfill service requests.
  • Coordinate with materials team for internal item transfers.
  • Monitor stock usage trends and support recommendations for inventory additions or reductions.
  • Vendor Coordination Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and shipping.
  • Support supplier negotiations and cost improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor vendor performance related to responsiveness, pricing, and delivery reliability.
  • Assist with supplier sourcing and evaluation activities.
  • System & Data Management Maintain accurate purchasing records in D365 and Coupa.
  • Reconcile PO data between procurement systems.
  • Ensure proper coding, documentation, and cost allocation.
  • Maintain tracking dashboards and procurement workflows in Smartsheet and Power Apps.
  • Request Management & Communication Manage inbound procurement requests from technicians and internal teams through: Power Apps submissions Smartsheet workflows Email inbox Phone and text communications Prioritize requests based on service urgency and operational impact.
  • Provide status updates to technicians and internal stakeholders.
  • Operational Support Assist Buyers and Procurement Managers during peak workload periods.
  • Support initiatives to reduce procurement cycle time and expedite costs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes and workflow efficiency.
