About The Position

This entry-level buyer position performs purchasing and procurement functions for an assigned area. The role is responsible for establishing and maintaining inventory levels to meet company requirements for nonperishable merchandise and supplies.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in business and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Computer experience, including Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Review and place orders daily using the Himpact buying system to maintain excellent service levels.
• Meet inventory turn, profitability, and minimum aged inventory goals.
• Review reports daily for assigned items and vendors, including buyer out-of-stocks, inventory adjustments, and order expediting.
• Interact with vendors, customers, and departments regarding purchasing procedures and order status.
• Manage service levels.
• Project and procure promotional inventory based on programs communicated by the Category Manager.
• Communicate suggested item deletions to the Category Manager.
• Maintain data, files, reports, and price lists for assigned commodities.
• Communicate out-of-stocks, late reserve shipments, and cancelled orders to customers through weekly bulletin updates.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
