About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Junior Bookkeeper to support our growing operations, reporting to our experienced bookkeeper and responsible for recording financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting daily accounting operations. Inherent l3C is an exciting mission-driven organization located on Chicago’s West Side, in the North Lawndale Community. We exist to solve one core problem - building meaningful paths to homeownership to support thriving communities across our West and South Sides. Requirements

  • High school diploma or associate degree in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience with spreadsheets and accounting software
  • Data entry accuracy
  • Time management
  • Basic payroll knowledge
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Confidential handling of financial information

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship or office experience preferred but often not required
  • NetSuite or ERP experience
  • SmartSheets
  • Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities

  • Record daily financial transactions in accounting software
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements
  • Maintain invoices, receipts, and expense reports
  • Assist with payroll processing
  • Prepare financial reports and spreadsheets
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Maintain organized digital and physical financial records
  • Communicate with vendors and clients regarding payments
  • Assist with audits and preparation of supporting documentation
  • Assist bookkeeper and leadership with administrative accounting tasks
