We are looking for a Junior Automation Test Engineer who is early in their testing career, has a passion for finding bugs, and is eager to grow into automation. You will help ensure the reliability of an enterprise AI platform at CMS, working alongside senior testers. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years in QA or test automation.
  • Familiarity with at least one automation framework (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, pytest, or similar).
  • Some scripting ability (Python or JavaScript) and a willingness to learn.
  • Curiosity, attention to detail, and coachability.
  • A genuine interest in AI/ML testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to CI/CD or accessibility testing.
  • Previous experience supporting CMS or another federal agency.

Responsibilities

  • Build the safety net by writing and maintaining automated tests for CMS’s enterprise AI platform, learning the frameworks as you go.
  • Support the pipeline by helping to wire tests into CI/CD and keeping the build green.
  • Hunt bugs by investigating failures, updating tests, and writing clear bug reports.
  • Learn the craft by picking up performance, regression, and accessibility testing under experienced mentors.
  • Collaborate and grow by asking questions and taking feedback in a badgeless, one-team culture.
