About The Position

The Junior Developer assists in the creation and support of software solutions across platforms including Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, data integration tools, and cloud-based environments. Under the guidance of senior technical staff, the role involves translating design specifications into working solutions, participating in unit testing, and maintaining technical documentation. This position provides hands-on experience in real-world software development practices while contributing to technology initiatives that support University business operations.

Requirements

• Must be a current undergraduate student majoring in a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer & Information Systems or related discipline.
• Demonstrate proficiency on a programming language
• Basic understanding of integration technologies i.e., SOAP & REST web services, JSON/XML, XSLT, etc.
• Basic understanding of relational database schema design.
• Must be able to manage unstructured tasks within specific guidelines and time constraints and function in a consultant capacity with self-direction and focus on project deliverables.
• Ability to analyze business problems and propose viable solutions.
• Ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Cloud based integrations technologies
• Experience with Apex, Visualforce Controllers within the Salesforce CRM platform.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Visual force Framework
• Demonstrate proficiency in .NET Framework and related programming languages, Object Oriented Programming (OOP).
• .NET web services development with good code and process documentation.
• Experience with relational database schema design.

Responsibilities

• Assist in Software Development and Testing Across the Full Development Lifecycle: Under supervision, supports the translation of design specifications into functional solution plans and participates in development and testing activities throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Contributes to data integration tasks using platforms such as Boomi Integration, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and other ETL tools; gains exposure to REST/SOAP/JSON APIs and testing tools such as Postman.
• Assists in the development and support of Salesforce solutions, including Apex, Visualforce, workflows, triggers, batch processes, and APIs under the direction of senior developers.
• Supports data analysis activities using tools such as Power BI, Power Query, and Power Pivot, contributing to data readiness and quality checks that inform data-driven decision-making.
• Support Adherence to Development Standards and Best Practices: Assists in ensuring that solution plans align with the University's software development lifecycle standards, software security protocols, and data security guidelines.
• Researches emerging development techniques and components that may optimize system solutions and improve end-user functionality.
• Supports the implementation of best practices in the development lifecycle and data security protocols under senior staff guidance.
• Assist in Data Quality Monitoring and Improvement Efforts: Participates in ongoing efforts to measure and improve data quality and consistency across supported platforms.
• Assists in the development of reports and dashboards used to track and measure data quality improvements.
• Supports the implementation of quality control frameworks to ensure data consistency during imports.
• Helps research reported data anomalies, contributing to root cause identification and proposed solutions.
• Prepare and Maintain Technical Documentation: Assists in preparing and maintaining accurate technical documentation for developed solutions, ensuring materials are current, clearly written, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
