About The Position

FP Canada is seeking a Junior Accountant to support the day-to-day operations of the Finance team and contribute to accurate, timely, and effective financial processes across the organization. Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Junior Accountant will assist with accounts payable, receivables, reconciliation, journal entries, audits, and financial reporting activities. This role is a great opportunity for an early-career accounting professional who brings strong attention to detail, a collaborative mindset, and an interest in gaining hands-on experience while advancing their CPA journey.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience is preferred, but recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger processes.
  • Currently enrolled in the CPA certification program.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, functions, pivot tables and charts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with accounting or financial management software is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accounts payable, expense management, and receivable functions, including bank payment preparation and processing.
  • Assisting with monitoring and reconciling employee credit card expenses.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain assigned components of the general ledger.
  • Supporting month-end and year-end close processes, year-end audits, journal entry preparation, account analysis, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Provide support during audits and tax preparation. Support the timely and accurate responses to auditor queries.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new employees in the use of FE NXT/Finance software, including expense management and account access.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accuracy and understanding of accounts and reporting.
  • Support the Director, Finance with other ad-hoc enquiries, projects and activities as required.
