About The Position

The Junior Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting the organization’s financial operations. This role involves reconciling accounts, processing daily financial transactions, bill payments, customer billing and assisting the Senior Accountant with accounts receivable collections. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. The Junior Accountant will collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely and accurate financial information that supports strategic decision-making.

Requirements

  • 0-1+ years of general accounting experience
  • BS or greater in Finance / Accounting
  • Good communication and customer service skills (predominantly related to communicating with customers related to late payments and billing questions)
  • Capable of making decisions independently within areas of responsibility
  • Able to commute to Headquarters in Mount Laurel, New Jersey
  • Proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented

Nice To Haves

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Prior experience with an ERP and recording journal entries in US GAAP based accounting environment
  • Ability to work in a team environment and take direction

Responsibilities

  • Record all bank transactions, scan and deposit checks
  • Process card payments over the phone
  • Record all customer credits and maintain constantly reconciled customer account balances
  • Work with clinical admin to assign customer credits accurately
  • Process all daily and monthly invoices
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and analysis
  • Assist Senior Accountant with the A/R collections process
  • Prepare documentation for tax filings and other regulatory requirements
  • Assist in the yearly financial audit
  • Assist with responses to government agencies as necessary to help the Senior Accountant
  • Work with Human Resources on payroll-related tax notices
  • Work with Senior Accountant on government surveys and other tax notices
  • Organize mail daily for Finance, Human Resources, and Patient Billing
  • Process patient refunds as provided by the billing team
  • Perform various office support related tasks as needed (ordering supplies, managing facility-based vendors, etc.)
  • Ensures a continuous quality improvement in customer service approach by proactively identifying areas of improvement and communicating those ideas to the Senior Accountant
  • Other duties, as assigned
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPPA guidelines/regulations
