About The Position

This is a part-time position for the Junior Academy After School Care Assistant for the 2026-2027 School Year, located on the Louisville KY Campus. The hours are Monday - Friday from 3 PM to 6 PM. The candidate will be under the general supervision of the Junior Academy Site Director and will assist the classroom teacher in caring for and treating each child with dignity and respect. Responsibilities include assisting children in preparing to leave in the afternoon, supporting the teacher with breaks, supplies, and emergency situations, maintaining classroom supplies for snacks and lunches, preparing materials for lessons/activities, substituting when needed, attending staff meetings, and participating in professional growth and school-sponsored events. A key aspect of the role is to assure each child feels loved, valued, and special, and to pray for teachers and students daily.

  • A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit.
  • A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school.
  • Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for Christian Academy School System.
  • Agreement and belief that The Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind.

Responsibilities

  • Be under the general supervision of the Junior Academy Site Director and cooperate in a loyal and efficient manner.
  • Be responsible for assisting the classroom teacher.
  • Care for and treat each child with dignity and respect.
  • Assist the children in getting prepared to leave in the afternoon.
  • Assist the classroom teacher when needed for break, gathering of supplies/materials, and emergency situations involving a child.
  • Keep the classroom properly stocked with paper goods needed for snack and lunch.
  • Help in preparation of necessary materials for lessons/activities.
  • Be a substitute teacher when asked by Preschool Site Director.
  • Attend and participate in all Preschool staff meetings.
  • Participate in recommended training programs, workshops, courses, and other aspects of professional growth as needed in order to maintain certification.
  • Attend and participate in the Annual Orientation, Annual Open House, programs and other events sponsored by CAL Preschool.
  • Assure each child he/she is loved, that they have value, that God made them special (II Tim. 2:15) and will pray for each teacher and student daily.
