The Judicial Services Coordinator is responsible for intake of new supervised and unsupervised probation cases and, in specified areas, monitoring deferred prosecution cases. Deferred prosecution cases requiring supervision are referred to a Probation/Parole Officer. The position obtains information from offenders with new probation and community service cases under Community Supervision's authority and is usually located in or near a courthouse, with frequent court activity and contact with judges, lawyers, District Attorneys, Clerks of Court, and law enforcement. The role monitors compliance for offenders sentenced to community service, including placing supervised and unsupervised offenders with agencies to complete work hours. The position may also monitor a low-risk, low-needs offender caseload. Work may include technical support to state court staff in accepting, examining, and processing legal documents, as well as conducting pre-sentence, pre-parole, and post-release investigations. The coordinator performs administrative work such as preparing documents and tracking case status, represents the agency in court and the community, and helps maintain public awareness of the community service program.
