About The Position

The Judicial Associate I - Criminal Division Rover position offers the unique opportunity to gain comprehensive experience across the entire General Sessions/Criminal Division of the Denver County Court. This role involves training and working in every courtroom, interacting with all judges, and processing case records for all charge levels, from municipal to felony, and at all stages, from arraignment to trial. As experience is gained, Rover Judicial Associates can also contribute to training new clerks. This challenging position provides an in-depth and rewarding understanding of the criminal justice system.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
  • Two (2) years of experience in a court, law enforcement or legal setting
  • Must be able to pass an initial pre-security clearance screening and maintain CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigation) certification as a condition of employment
  • High competency with technology and computer programs such as Word, Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Teams and other court specific programs
  • Demonstrate flexibility towards daily assigned duties
  • Self-motivated to continually expand your knowledge of Court processes and concepts
  • Enjoy working with a diverse team of colleagues and Judicial Officers
  • Experience with customer de-escalation and conflict management
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Bilingual, Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, manage all courtroom functions, and act as liaison between defendants, court personnel, and the judicial officer
  • Provide excellent and unbiased customer service in a high-volume division
  • Enter Judge’s orders and findings in the case record in real time during Court, keeping pace with the proceedings as each case is called
  • Train and support fellow Rovers and Judicial Associate I’s in multiple courtrooms
  • Change courtroom assignment daily
  • Seamlessly transition between courtrooms while meeting the individual needs of each judicial officers and their staff, and while also performing courtroom functions to their preference
  • Occasionally adjust work hours as needed for trials, hearings, or heavy dockets
  • Support Procedural Fairness
