About The Position

The Judicial Appointments Commission has received a request from the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration to recommend candidates for the position of Judge of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). This process is in accordance with the Judicial Appointments Commission Act 2023 and Article 253 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU (TFEU). The application process is now open, with a closing date for applications and references of 5pm on Monday 31st August 2026. Applicants must register, complete, and submit their application through the online portal on the Commission’s website. Referees can submit references from Thursday 16th July until the closing date. The Commission will conduct the selection process under a transitional arrangement until a judicial selection statement is finalized, adhering to provisional procedures and criteria available on the Commission's website.
