About The Position

The Superintendent of Schools is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of JROTC Instructor for Career and Technical Education (CTE) at Hutchinson Central Technical High School for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a 1.0 FTE position.

Requirements

  • Hold the required certifications in accordance with JROTC rules and regulations.
  • Be a non-commissioned officer (NCO) grades E6 through E9 or commissioned officer 03-06 from one of the five branches of the United States military.
  • Served in the military.
  • Certified as a JROTC instructor by appropriate branch of service.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing the JROTC curriculum and program requirements.
  • Preparing plans, coordination, and supervision of all co-curricular service learning, special activities or events (military ball, drill meets, honor guards, encampments, and other extracurricular activities).
  • Managing property management, budget and fund raising controls for the JROTC unit.
  • Assessing and evaluating student progress and growth through formal and informal evaluations procedures.
  • Evaluating students’ progress and determines materials and strategies to provide for their needs.
  • Coordinating and consolidating lesson plans, curriculum activities, and objectives with other content areas to provide for transfer of learning and knowledge.
  • Developing thematic units and other projects to provide for extended interaction and creativity.
  • Instructing 180 hours of character development materials in classroom and laboratory environment.
  • Administering, advising, and appraising extracurricular teams (drill, physical training and academic challenge).
  • Determining and administering cadets who serve in key leadership positions (command and staff).
  • Administering, advising, coordinating, and supervising special activities or events such as the annual military ball, drill meets, and awards ceremony.
  • Implementing and maintaining communication and coordination with the school faculty and staff to promote cadet involvement in school activities, cadet recruitment and retention.
  • Counseling, mentoring, and tutoring cadets as needed.
  • Performing all other tasks and duties as assigned.
