About The Position

McCuaig & Associates Engineering Ltd. is currently seeking a Jr. Technologist/EIT to join our Asset Management Department at our Calgary, AB office. The ideal candidate will have at least 1-2 years of technical building science and project management experience and has a keen interest in the field of asset management.

Requirements

  • Registered or eligible to register as an AScT with ASET or EIT/P.Eng. with APEGA
  • Strong technical writing skills and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong work ethic
  • Technically proficient in Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Autodesk Revit/CAD an asset
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities
  • Effective project management skills and experience
  • Relevant building science and construction industry related experience
  • Working knowledge of building codes, ASHRAE 90.1, NEBC, and relevant standards
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Willing to undergo personnel security screening (similar to a criminal record check)

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Engineers and Project Managers in the following Asset Management projects: Condition Assessments, Capital and Maintenance Planning, Depreciation Reports / Reserve Fund Studies, Feasibility Studies
  • Perform site reviews / field investigation
  • Review of drawings, specifications and other relevant technical and financial document
  • Perform quantity takeoffs / estimating
  • Develop budgets and cash flows
  • Research building materials and maintain and update internal templates, database and library
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other specialty consultants as necessary
  • Attend client meetings
