About The Position

KBR's National Security Solutions team is seeking a Junior Systems Engineer (Digital Engineering Infrastructure) to join their team on-site in Chantilly, VA. This role is crucial for designing and optimizing defense systems that ensure national security and shape the future of space defense, in direct support of a US Space Industry Prime Partner. The position offers an opportunity for professional growth and to tackle strategic Customer Enterprise-level challenges within a collaborative and innovative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 0 years of experience.
  • Foundational understanding of systems engineering principles and familiarity with Digital Engineering (DE)/Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Basic understanding of data concepts and technologies such as relational databases, ontology, Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) or Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with teammates and stakeholders.
  • A current/active TS/SCI with polygraph is required for consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in Systems Engineering or relative field.
  • Exposure to MBSE tools or coursework (e.g., SysML) is desired.
  • General awareness of digital industry trends such as Cloud/Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Data Analytics, DevSecOps, AWS and/or Azure, Containerization/micro-services.
  • Basic knowledge or academic exposure to satellite or space-based technologies.
  • Familiarity with Operations Research/Systems Analysis concepts.
  • Introductory knowledge of Digital Thread or Digital Twin concepts.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within systems engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced systems engineering leadership to create, deliver, and maintain processes and methods for acquiring or creating tools and software to enable systems engineering and Modeling, Simulation, & Analysis (MS&A).
  • Apprentice to experienced engineering infrastructure personnel to support ongoing definition of processes and methods.
  • Under supervision, deliver foundational digital engineering (DE) approaches that ensure the engineering and MS&A processes are met.
  • Assist technical teams and leadership in the implementation of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods and techniques.
  • Assist in developing and supporting enterprise-level digital engineering approaches, ensuring that models, data, and information are accessible, interconnected, and structured to support organizational goals.
  • Ensure that systems engineering and MS&A processes covered in the Statement of Work (SOW) requirements are followed.
  • Support the federated modeling approach across the enterprise and mission partners.
  • Adhere to the MBSE modeling methodology guidelines and principles established by the team.
  • Communicate modeling concepts and best practices to stakeholders at varying levels.
