About The Position

KBR's National Security Solutions team is seeking a Junior Systems Engineer (Digital Engineering Process Support) to join their team on-site in Chantilly, VA. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline.
  • 0 years of experience.
  • Foundational understanding of systems engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with Digital Engineering (DE)/Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Basic understanding of data concepts and technologies such as relational databases, ontology, Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) or Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with teammates and stakeholders.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with Poly is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in Systems Engineering or relative field.
  • Exposure to MBSE tools or coursework (e.g., SysML).
  • General awareness of digital industry trends such as Cloud/IaC, Data Analytics, DevSecOps, AWS and/or Azure, Containerization/micro-services.
  • Basic knowledge or academic exposure to satellite or space-based technologies.
  • Familiarity with Operations Research/Systems Analysis concepts.
  • Introductory knowledge of Digital Thread or Digital Twin concepts.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within systems engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in fulfilling Digital Engineering (DE) processes and methods for enterprise-wide adoption under the supervision of tenured systems engineering professionals.
  • Develop digital thread frameworks and model portfolios, including standards for model integration and interoperability.
  • Implement model quality and review processes, and update acquisition methods.
  • Apprentice to experienced Systems Engineering MBSE practitioners and support the modernization of systems engineering and acquisition processes.
  • Deliver foundational digital engineering (DE) approaches to meet engineering and MS&A process requirements.
  • Assist technical teams and leadership in implementing MBSE methods and techniques.
  • Develop and support enterprise-level digital engineering approaches, ensuring models, data, and information are accessible, interconnected, and structured.
  • Ensure systems engineering and MS&A processes covered in the SOW requirements are followed.
  • Support the federated modeling approach across the enterprise and mission partners.
  • Adhere to MBSE modeling methodology guidelines and principles.
  • Communicate modeling concepts and best practices to stakeholders at varying levels.
