About The Position

The State of Ohio - DCY is seeking a Jr Software Tester for .NET applications. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days onsite per week. The position involves designing and performing system analysis, recommending application solutions, testing and correcting programs, and assisting IT staff with documentation. The role also includes supporting user acceptance testing, performing software implementation tasks, and assisting with the development and monitoring of IT quality assurance standards and testing. Responsibilities extend to developing software testing and automation procedures, analyzing and designing solutions, and working with business personnel to define system software requirements. The position also requires post-production support, including routine maintenance, enhancements, and troubleshooting software production errors. The Jr Software Tester will assist IT staff in identifying alternate courses of action, reviewing software development methodologies, completing software security scans, and assisting with performance testing and benchmarking. Communication and collaboration with peers and others are essential, as is guiding the performance of software development tasks and answering technical questions. The role involves gathering and interpreting information from various sources to aid in software development duties and providing informal mentorship to peers and lower-level staff. Experience with Azure DevOps for documentation, iterative development, task management, and system testing is required, along with a basic understanding of Agile, Iterative, and Traditional Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices as they relate to testing.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Software Tester specifically for .NET and Cloud-Native Applications
  • Demonstrated ability and experience independently developing testing strategy, test plans, test cases and proper system testing documentation for a new .NET application.
  • Understanding and experience in the use of Azure Dev Ops for documentation and iterative development collaboration, task management and other functions related to system testing and reporting.
  • Basic understanding of Agile, Iterative and Traditional Software development (SDLC) practices, standards as it relates to testing activities.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and performs system analysis, recommends application solutions, tests and corrects programs and assists IT staff with documentation.
  • Assists in supporting user acceptance testing.
  • Performs software implementation tasks, including source control and deployment activities.
  • Assists with development, implementation and monitoring IT quality assurance standards and testing.
  • Assists in the development and documentation of appropriate standards and criteria for acceptable programming and systems development lifecycle activities.
  • Develops software testing and automation procedures and performs analysis and design.
  • Reads, writes, extracts and/or reports from compounded files.
  • Works with business personnel to identify and document system software requirements.
  • Defines problems and develops potential solutions.
  • Performs post-production support for business applications which may include routine maintenance, enhancements and the need to perform research to aid in troubleshooting software production errors.
  • Assists IT staff in identifying alternate courses of action, the review and evaluation of software development methodologies and completing software security scans and reporting on vulnerabilities.
  • Assist IT staff in performance testing and benchmarking of software application response times, analysis and reporting on performance measures.
