Jr. Software Engineer (Java) - Intern
About The Position
Moebius Solutions seeks technically strong Intern candidates currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program in Computer Science or a related field for a paid summer internship in 2026. Ideal candidates are students in their final year of undergraduate study who aim to graduate within the next 12 months. Local San Diego Residents are encouraged to apply. Experience in one or more software engineering technical tracks, such as, but not limited to embedded programming in C/C++, Development experience in Python, Java, C#, PHP, Web (Flask, ASP.NET, Django, etc.), HTML/CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, ReactJS, Vue.js, AngularJS, or SQL Server, MongoDB or related NoSQL databases is desired. Moebius Solutions Software Engineers are involved in all aspects of the development lifecycle - planning, development, testing, installation, and supporting live systems – you could be too. Compensation: $28.00-$30.00 per hour. The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) job responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as alignment with market data. Position Classification and schedule: Non-exempt, temporary full-time; offering a hybrid schedule for San Diego-area candidates. Target start date: flexible start May/June 2026 – August/September 2026; not to exceed 14 weeks. Position Summary: We seek candidates with a strong work ethic, the ability to work independently, an eagerness to learn and tackle real-world challenges, strong communication and collaboration skills, and a drive to advance their careers. Students interested in software development will be matched with a mentor who will provide project-related tasks to push their boundaries. You will be supported by the vast Moebius employee community to ensure your success. Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- 2+ years of academic experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Must be available for 11 – 14 weeks during summer 2026 (May/June -August/September) with a graduation date of Fall 2026 or Spring/Summer 2027.
- Must be able to work up to 30-40 hours per week during the core hours 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. PST.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaborate with team members in a remote work environment.
- Must successfully complete Moebius' designed Java technical assessment and participate in at least one virtual follow-up interview to be conducted in April 2026.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to projects using object-oriented languages such as Java, C++, Python, etc.
- Work in an Enterprise SaaS platform in an Agile, cloud-based environment.
- Utilize a wide range of open-source technologies: React, Typescript, JavaScript, Azure, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Ansible, Jenkins, and Python.
- Learn basic Git commands.
- Have exposure to “peer reviews”.
- Have the opportunity to design/update features based on client feedback.
- Assist in developing capabilities and designing code with “end-user” needs in mind.
