About The Position

The Jr. Machinery Mechanic is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of industrial machinery under close supervision. This entry-level role supports senior mechanics in diagnosing issues, performing basic repairs, and ensuring equipment is safe and operational. This job profile is intended for entry-level support staff who follow specific instructions and procedures, with supervision provided for non-routine situations. Tasks can be carried out after basic training or demonstration.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in instrumentation, electrical, or mechanical discipline preferred.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including engines and rotating equipment.
Working knowledge of electrical systems (AC/DC), sensors, and control circuits.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools, multimeters, and calibration equipment.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required.

Nice To Haves

Experience with natural gas engines and compressor packages.
Familiarity with control systems (PLC/SCADA) and engine management systems.
OEM training or certifications related to ignition or instrumentation systems.
Knowledge of hazardous area classifications and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, repair, and maintain ignition systems including control panels, coils, pickups, and wiring harnesses.
Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, and speed sensors.
Perform functional testing and system validation to ensure proper engine performance and compliance with specifications.
Interpret wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical manuals to support troubleshooting and installation activities.
Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections on engines, compressors, and related equipment.
Assist with engine startups, shutdowns, and commissioning activities.
Identify root causes of system failures and implement corrective actions.
Maintain accurate service records, calibration reports, and documentation.
Ensure adherence to safety standards, company policies, and industry regulations.
Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to optimize equipment reliability.
