About The Position

The City of Chicopee’s Management Information Systems (MIS) Department is hiring a part-time, as-needed Jr. Internship Student Camera Operator to support production of PEG (Public, Education, Government) television content and the training, support, and operations of ChicopeeTV and related City applications. The operator will train in the use of public access cameras, sign up to cover games and other events, collect and set up camera equipment, record events in their entirety, and return equipment to designated storage locations.

Requirements

Must be an active student of Chicopee High School or Chicopee Comprehensive High School.

Nice To Haves

Experience with cable TV distribution systems, HD studio and HDTV mobile video production equipment, and cameras is preferred.
Knowledge of video production, audio production, and theatrical lighting systems is desirable.
Familiarity with Mac OS and Windows OS-based video and audio editing applications.
Familiarity with video production equipment.
Ability to coordinate the activities of both human and mechanical elements of a video production.

Responsibilities

Train in the use of public access cameras.
Sign up for games and other events using the ChicopeeTV events calendar.
Pick up cameras and tripods from designated locations at least 20 minutes before an event, bring equipment to the event, and set it up.
Record the entire event, including one participant such as a coach, player, or spectator.
Return cameras and tripods to the designated storage locations as required.
