About The Position

Provides coaching and support to classroom teachers to ensure the continuous development of instructional skills among assigned teachers. Emphasis will be placed on introducing and supporting evidence based instructional practices for classroom instruction with the goal of achieving increased student performance. This role also involves providing staff with the latest developments and information related to curriculum including the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), TCMPC/TEKS Resource System, and the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR). The coach will work with teachers to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies, and develop curriculum support materials as needed. The position also requires compiling, maintaining, and filing all required reports, records, and documents, complying with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy, and following district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas teaching certificate (Math preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Extensive knowledge of standards based curriculum and evidence-based instructional practices
  • Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
  • Ability to provide expertise in curriculum delivery and professional development through the Professional Learning Communities model
  • Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • 5 years teaching experience in subject area assigned

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with assigned classroom teachers to establish realistic and measurable objectives related to both the teacher’s individual professional development and student learning.
  • Support the continuous professional growth and improvement of teacher instructional skills through coaching and collaborative problem solving.
  • Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and coaching to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation.
  • Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in the classroom.
  • Evaluate teacher effectiveness in accordance with established district programs.
  • Plan and provide appropriate staff development for teachers.
  • Demonstrate instructional expertise through model teaching, team teaching, video presentations and student achievement gains.
  • Research and build a data bank of current evidence based practices and resources that support instruction.
  • Provide staff with the latest developments and information related to curriculum including the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), TCMPC/TEKS Resource System, and the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR).
  • Attend professional development to guarantee consistent communication between the campus and district Curriculum and Instruction department.
  • Work with teachers to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies.
  • Develop curriculum support materials as needed.
  • Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and nation levels in the area assigned.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
