About The Position

Blueprint Schools Network is seeking an experienced Math Instructional Coach & Planning Consultant for a remote, independent contractor role. This position supports the professional growth of Math Fellows in the Copper Corridor and Yuma areas of Arizona. The role focuses on observation, coaching, and lesson planning to enhance student math achievement through data-driven, small-group tutoring. The ideal candidate is an experienced math educator or coach who thrives in structured instructional systems and is passionate about supporting early-career educators, believing in equitable access to high-quality math instruction for all students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 3+ years of successful math classroom teaching experience
  • Proven experience in instructional coaching, with a track record of providing constructive, evidence-based feedback
  • Expert proficiency in Google Workspace (Meet, Classroom, Docs, Sheets)
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills; ability to build trust with Fellows and school partners quickly
  • Must clear Blueprint and district-specific background screenings
  • Must obtain required professional liability insurance

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Education or Mathematics preferred
  • Experience working in or familiarity with rural or remote educational settings preferred
  • Experience supporting novice or early-career educators preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct weekly remote observations of Fellows during small-group tutorials, assessing implementation of core instructional strategies.
  • Facilitate remote debrief and planning sessions to review data, troubleshoot challenges, and set instructional goals.
  • Coach Fellows to prioritize conceptual understanding over rote memorization, emphasizing visual models and mathematical logic.
  • Support Fellows in analyzing exit ticket data to identify learning trends and close learning gaps.
  • Develop "post-work tools" to provide Fellows with reflective support for lessons.
  • Use the Blueprint Data Tracker and tools like STAR Data to monitor instructional trends and target coaching interventions.
  • Coordinate with the Blueprint Program Team to align coaching priorities with school-specific goals.
  • Guide Fellows through a structured 3-Tier Planning Funnel, building content confidence and pedagogical skills.
  • Facilitate "Big Picture" meetings prior to each new unit, guiding Fellows through priority standards, prerequisite skills, and common student misconceptions.
  • Lead weekly synchronous planning sessions focused on upcoming lessons, coaching Fellows in backwards design from exit tickets.
  • Support effective lesson design across the Launch, Engage, and Summary components.
  • Support Fellows in adapting materials for specific student groups, providing feedback on scaffolds and extensions.
  • Support Fellows in analyzing student performance data, identifying trends, and recommending interventions.
  • Use Blueprint's data tracking systems to monitor Fellow and student progress.
  • Facilitate virtual professional development sessions for cohorts of Fellows on math content and instructional strategies.
  • Serve as a key member of the wrap-around support team for Fellows, collaborating with program staff.
  • Ensure seamless experience for Fellows through lesson planning, observations, and feedback loops.
  • Share insights with the Program Team for program improvement and innovation.
