Jr. Estimator

Clearspace, ON

About The Position

This is a foundational, hands-on estimating role. As a Junior Estimator, you support our estimating team in delivering accurate, well-documented project pricing that underpins every Clearspace project. You will learn how Clearspace prices commercial fit-outs end-to-end, from early test fits and feasibility budgets through to full project estimates and award. You will work directly under the Senior Estimator, with structured mentorship and a clear growth path toward owning estimates of your own. You will partner closely with our Design, Sales, and Project Management teams to turn drawings, scope, and ideas into reliable numbers. You will contribute to the modernization of our estimating workflows, including the process documentation that supports our automation and AI initiatives.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in construction estimating, quantity surveying, or a related role, ideally in commercial interiors, fit-out, or general contracting.
  • A degree or diploma in construction management, architectural technology, quantity surveying, civil engineering, interior design, or a related field.
  • Comfort reading and interpreting architectural and millwork drawings.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills — formulas, lookups, and clean spreadsheet hygiene.
  • Sharp attention to detail and a habit of double-checking your own numbers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — you’ll be writing to clients, consultants, vendors, and internal teams regularly.
  • A learning mindset and curiosity about how a good estimate actually comes together.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Procore, Bluebeam, Wrike, or similar construction-tech platforms is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Attend site surveys and document site conditions to tighten up estimates.
  • Build and maintain project estimates in Microsoft Excel and our internal Digital Charter platform.
  • Solicit, level, and analyze vendor and trade quotes across millwork, electrical, mechanical, flooring, glazing, framing, and related trades.
  • Price and return Test Fit Requests (TFRs) to the Design and Sales teams on schedule, with clear assumptions and exclusions.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers on value engineering, scope clarifications, and budget alignment as projects move from estimate to award.
  • Maintain unit-rate libraries and historical cost data so our pricing stays sharp and defensible.
  • Document estimating processes and contribute to the continuous improvement of how the team works.
