Jr. Estimator

Serve ElectricSterling Heights, MI
$55,000 - $65,000Onsite

About The Position

As a Jr. Estimator, you'll work directly alongside our estimating and project management team to help price medium to large scale industrial electrical projects- material handling, conveyors, industrial power distribution, process controls, and communication cabling. You'll be involved from the moment an RFQ comes in all the way through to project kickoff. This is an in-office role at our Sterling Heights headquarters. If you're a recent grad, someone with trades industry experience, or an early-career professional with a technical background and a sharp eye for detail, this is a great place to build a career.

Requirements

  • Technical aptitude- you don't need to be an electrician, but you need to be comfortable reading blueprints, specs, and technical documents
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple quotes and deadlines simultaneously
  • Detail-oriented-estimating is unforgiving; small errors have big consequences

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required- we're more interested in your background and aptitude than your major. Relevant trades industry experience (electrical supply, apprenticeship, field work) is just as valuable to us as a degree in engineering or construction management
  • Familiarity with NEC code is a plus, but not required
  • Experience with estimating software or CRM tools is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and interpreting customer RFQ documentation
  • Creating material take-offs and cost estimates for new opportunities
  • Preparing detailed cost breakdowns and proposals for clients
  • Analyzing project requirements- materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor bids
  • Assisting with change orders and contract modifications
  • Keeping the CRM (Salesforce) updated with accurate quote and opportunity information
  • Scheduling internal quote reviews with leadership
  • Participating in project debriefs to sharpen the quoting process over time
  • Supporting the quote-to-kickoff handoff process
  • Communicating project scope, documentation, and cost information to the execution team
  • Coordinating customer scope review meetings as needed
  • Occasional travel to customer sites to gather information for quoting

Benefits

  • Health, dental, vision, life insurance, and HSA
  • 401(k) with matching
  • PTO & Paid Holidays
  • Hands-On Training: you'll learn estimating from experienced professionals in the industrial electrical space
