About The Position

SUMMARY Under the direction of the Port Engineer, this position will be involved in many aspects of CAPS and CVRF operations and will be responsible for but not limited to, Shipboard Maintenance, Dockside and Building maintenance, Facility Clean-up, Warehouse organization, SCP duties, and Fire watch / General labor as needed to cover positions. Training will be assigned as necessary for all aspects of the position. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES · Shadow Port Engineer and Assistant Port Engineer to learn the Assistant Port Engineers position for future advancement. · Coordinate with Port Engineer and vessels regarding purchasing parts and supplies for commercial fishing vessels and facility as needed. · Property tasks: yard walks daily, general maintenance as instructed by Port Engineer. · Make sure Garbage Dumpster and Metal dumpster is closed at the end of the day. · Run Sweeper if needed around inside parking lot. · Keep CAPS sections of warehouse, organized and clean. · Operate forklift as necessary. · Complete and maintain certifications in but not limited to SCP (Shipyard Competent Person) HAZWOPER, crane operations and forklift operations. Become competent in shipyard operations. · Clean dock of debris and empty all trash bins at least once per week, more as needed. · Open and Close boom as needed. · Complete and maintain Boaters safety course online. · Willingness to perform duties of a fire watch and general labor to fill a spot as needed. · Working in all positions and duties above, to understand how to manage in the future. · Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Forklift Certificate and boaters card required.
  • Must possess the ability to represent the company in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.
  • Highly organized, ability to work successfully in a team environment, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Must demonstrate solid communications skills, ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal personnel and external customers.
  • This position requires a high level of attention to detail and the willingness to be a team-oriented problem solver.
  • In order to successfully perform the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to effectively remain in a stationary position for long periods of time, communicate with others in person and over the phone, and move about inside an office and warehouse.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and move in excess of 50 lbs.
  • The employee is required to stand; walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and spend long hours outdoors re-mooring vessels as required.
  • Ability to start and operate a skiff or small watercraft safely.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • This position also requires the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Alaskan fisheries is preferred but not needed.
  • Familiar with commercial fishing vendors and service providers in the Seattle area and will possess a strong understanding of commercial fishing vessels and their equipment.
