About The Position

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the successful candidate will join the team as a Journeyperson specializing in maintenance issues related to mechanical systems and special projects, including the aesthetic/operation maintenance of guest rooms and public areas, and ensuring safety within the Pan Pacific Hotel. In addition, providing immediate attention to all trouble or emergency calls relating to the maintenance and operation of the Pan Pacific Hotel.

Requirements

  • 2 – 3 Years’ experience in general maintenance.
  • Thorough knowledge of all mechanical systems in the hotel (HVAC systems, fire alarm systems, DDC, domestic water system, electrical distribution systems and related equipment).
  • Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting ability.
  • Competent in the use of hand and power tools; Competent in the use of engineering instruments and testers.
  • Ability to work in cramped spaces and heights; able to lift/ move heavy equipment and objects.
  • Must be skilled with the use of hand and power tools (with the emphasis on hand tools).
  • Knowledge of safety and emergency policies and procedures, including WHMIS and LOCKOUT.
  • Excellent oral & written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer Skills - Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of previous mechanical maintenance experience is an asset.
  • Ability to weld and solder is an asset.
  • Experience with locksets an asset.
  • Knowledge of Project management an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate attention to any guest requests; serve as a direct liaison with all other operating departments.
  • Respond to emergency calls.
  • Inspect and ensure the smooth operation of the hotel's mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, swimming pools, and domestic water systems.
  • Complete preventative maintenance work orders as assigned.
  • Identify and report problems that require follow-up.
  • Maintains accurate log and maintenance records (equipment and shift records).
  • Identify building load conditions (heating and cooling) and efficiently schedule equipment operation.
  • Schedule the energy management system to optimize energy savings (DDC).
  • Refinish furniture (including scraping, stripping, and sanding) to match the existing tint and finish.
  • Ensures the building is maintained to hotel standards through daily repairs.
  • Completes work orders as assigned; Ensures needs of other departments and guests are met.
  • Performs repairs and renovation projects from beginning to completion.
  • Repairs and installation of drywall and wallpaper; paints and performs room maintenance (in the absence of a painter and a room maintenance person).
  • General maintenance ( including minor plumbing and electrical)
  • Completes all special projects and other related duties as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
