Requirements

  • Journeyperson Technician Certification (Commercial Transport, Automotive Service or Heavy Duty)
  • 4th year apprentices writing their Red Seal exam soon may be considered
  • 2–5 years of related experience, including exposure to working as a Journeyperson Mechanic
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license with an air brake endorsement, and no more than 3 demerit points on your record.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent Health & Safety Knowledge, particularly OH&S rules and regulations guidelines, with a keen eye for detail
  • Employment is contingent upon receiving a favorable background check and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Vehicle Conversion (CNG or CNG/LPG) is a strong asset
  • A CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License is an asset
  • Prior experience maintaining transit vehicles or a large fleet is an asset
  • Previous experience in WFA is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair vehicles using diagnostic tools to identify issues and perform necessary repairs, maintenance, and part replacements. Operate buses for testing and diagnostics as needed.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance, including CVIP inspections. Maintain accurate service records and manage parts procurement.
  • Collaborate with technicians, management, and drivers to meet shop priorities and schedules. Follow all safety, environmental, and HR procedures in line with OH&S and inspection standards.
  • Keep a clean, safe workspace and communicate effectively with the team. Support apprentice training, suggest training needs, and attend required company programs.
  • Utilize diagnostic software such as Cummins INSITE, Voith, WABCO and OEM-specific programs to identify and resolve faults.
  • Complete work orders, maintenance records, and inspection reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Respond to road calls and perform on-site repairs when required.
