About The Position

SOUTHLAND Transportation is currently seeking experienced Mechanics (Automotive or Heavy Duty) to join our team in Calgary. SOUTHLAND is currently offering a $3,000 hiring bonus for Journeyperson Mechanics - receive $1,500 after 6 months and the remaining $1,500 following one year of employment. The shift for this position is Monday through Friday, from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Requirements

Journeyperson Ticket (Automotive or Heavy Duty)
Must possess own tools for the job
Fluent in written and spoken English
2 – 5 years related experience
Valid driver’s license
Exposure to working on diesel, propane, and gasoline engines
Experience with automatic transmissions
Analytical and troubleshooting skills
Strong diagnostic skills
Computer proficiency
Must be physically fit for duty
Ability to push, pull, drag and lift items up to 50 pounds
Ability to work in cramped or awkward positions

Nice To Haves

CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License preferred

Responsibilities

Servicing/repairing SOUTHLAND school buses in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
Perform field work on down buses.
Ongoing maintenance/repair of buses in assigned yard and also in a shop environment.
Diagnose equipment problems.
CVIP Inspections.
Respond to breakdowns.
Spring and winter maintenance.
Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs.
Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities.
Follow SOUTHLAND procedures and guidelines.
