About The Position

Trace Systems is seeking a Journeyman Voice Engineer to provide Tier II administration and sustainment of EACN Cisco VoIP services at Joint Base Andrews. This position supports mission-essential voice connectivity in a 24/7 operational environment. The project associated with this position is currently in the proposal stage.

Requirements

  • Active, in-scope US Government issued Top Secret clearance (minimum); higher-level eligibility may be required based on assigned access.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Candidates must meet the applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the assigned work role. DoD 8140 Work Role(s): 451 Systems Administrator, Proficiency Level: Intermediate; and may qualify through education, military training, certifications, or a combination thereof.
  • Qualifying credentials include a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity or Data Science or Information Systems or Information Technology or Software Engineering or completion of relevant military communications or network training.
  • Qualifying certifications may include Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, SSCP, or other DoD 8140-approved certifications. Higher proficiency-level or equivalent DoD 8140-approved certifications applicable to the assigned work role may also be accepted.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to work in a secure DoD environment and comply with applicable Air Force, installation, and program security requirements.
  • 3+ years of enterprise voice, unified communications, or VoIP administration experience.
  • Current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification, or ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
  • DoD-approved IA baseline certification commensurate with the position, or ability to obtain it within six months.
  • Experience with CUCM, Unity, CUBE, SBCs, SIP, SRST, and voice troubleshooting.
  • Ability to support assigned mission schedules, including after-hours work or shifts when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Ribbon VX900, Asterisk, teleconference bridges, classified voice, executive communications, EACN, or A2G2.
  • Cisco collaboration or unified communications certification.
  • Prior military service or experience supporting Department of Defense or U.S. Air Force customers.
  • Experience supporting mission-essential communications in distributed, multi-site environments.

Responsibilities

  • Administer Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unity, Instant Messaging and Presence, and teleconference bridges.
  • Maintain Cisco Unified Border Elements, Session Border Controllers, Ribbon VX900 devices, and SIP-enabled network devices.
  • Administer SIP connections between the EACN VoIP network and external customer voice systems.
  • Support Asterisk networks, Call Manager Express, Survivable Remote Site Telephony, and other Cisco VoIP networks.
  • Monitor voice services, troubleshoot incidents, document actions in the approved ticketing system, and coordinate restoration with internal and external teams.
  • Implement approved patches, configuration changes, security hardening, and equipment lifecycle updates.
  • Maintain accurate voice-system diagrams, configurations, procedures, and technical documentation.
