About The Position

Pape’ Kenworth, a premier medium and heavy-duty truck and equipment dealer in the West, is seeking a Journeyman Truck Technician / Mechanic to join their team. This role involves working on medium and heavy-duty class 7 & 8 trucks in the shop, ensuring repairs are done accurately and timely to support customers and maximize their uptime. The technician will be responsible for analyzing and diagnosing complex truck malfunctions or system failures, repairing or rebuilding various truck components, and maintaining/servicing trucks to ensure reliability and extend vehicle life. The position requires technical expertise, critical thinking under pressure, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver work meeting high standards of safety and quality. The team member will work Monday-Friday, 10:30 am – 7:00 pm.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of experience working on all makes and models of medium and heavy-duty class 7/8 trucks, including engine repair, electronic trouble-shooting, HVAC systems, and chassis repair.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Self-motivation and assertiveness.
  • Ability to work under little or no supervision.
  • Excellent communication and customer relations skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Kenworth Essentials certifications preferred.
  • Cummins and MX software experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work on medium and heavy-duty class 7 & 8 trucks in the shop, ensuring repairs are done accurately and timely.
  • Support customers and maximize their uptime.
  • Get sidelined trucks back in service quickly and correctly.
  • Serve as a leader others can look to for guidance and expertise.
  • Analyze and diagnose complex truck malfunctions or system failures.
  • Determine the best course of action to return the truck to peak performance.
  • Repair or rebuild cabs, steering systems, engines, transmissions, axles, differentials, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, or air systems.
  • Maintain and service trucks to ensure reliability, minimize downtime, and extend the life of each vehicle.
