About The Position

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Journeyman Systems Engineer specializing in Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) to support a mission-critical U.S. Coast Guard program. This position will be located in Alexandria, VA and will be a hybrid position.

Requirements

  • High School diploma with 6 - 9 years of experience (or commensurate experience)
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+).
  • Professional experience implementing and managing MECM/SCCM in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of Windows Server platforms (2012–2022+) and core infrastructure services (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS).
  • Solid experience with Windows imaging, Task Sequences, and driver management.
  • Proficiency with VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Competency in PowerShell for automation and systems management.
  • Experience building and maintaining lab environments for validation and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of patch cycles, update deployments, and compliance reporting.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical requirements between engineering teams and operational stakeholders.
  • Active Secret Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting U.S. Coast Guard or Department of Homeland Security (DHS) programs.
  • Endpoint Administrator Associate or Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certifications.
  • Experience with Intune/MECM co-management or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the engineering and maintenance of the MECM infrastructure to ensure consistent endpoint availability and system health across the enterprise.
  • Deploy and monitor software packages, security updates, and critical patches, ensuring all systems remain functional and compliant.
  • Develop and maintain task sequences for automated OS deployments, ensuring consistent imaging, hardware compatibility, and driver integration.
  • Coordinate and execute daily patch management operations, including scheduling deployments and remediating failed installations.
  • Monitor and remediate endpoint compliance to ensure all systems adhere to organizational security policies and federal standards.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting for MECM client health, software distribution errors, and deployment failures across the enterprise.
  • Utilize and refine PowerShell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks and improve endpoint management efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed records of system configurations, engineering designs, and operational procedures.
  • Generate regular reports on deployment status, hardware inventory, and overall endpoint compliance for stakeholders.
