About The Position

W.M. Schlosser Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced Journeyman Pipefitter to lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, test, repair, and maintain piping systems on active construction projects in the Southern Virginia/Richmond, Virginia area. This role works from drawings, specifications, and field conditions to complete piping work safely, accurately, and efficiently while supporting project requirements, company standards, applicable codes, and safety expectations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of pipefitting experience in commercial, industrial, mechanical, utility, or heavy construction environments; journeyman-level experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of piping systems, materials, fittings, valves, supports, layout practices, installation methods, pressure testing, and construction safety requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, pipe drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and related project documents.
  • Experience safely using hand tools, power tools, threading machines, grooving equipment, pipe cutters, lifts, and related pipefitting equipment.
  • Dependable, punctual, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a crew in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to meet the physical requirements of active construction work.
  • All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, P&IDs, and related project documents to determine layout, materials, sequencing, and installation requirements.
  • Lay out, measure, cut, thread, groove, fit, assemble, install, align, secure, repair, and maintain piping systems and related components.
  • Install pipe, fittings, valves, hangers, supports, sleeves, pumps, strainers, meters, tanks, fixtures, and related mechanical components.
  • Support pressure testing, leak testing, troubleshooting, deficiency correction, inspection readiness, and quality expectations.
  • Assist with material handling, staging, storage, protection, and safe use of pipefitting tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate with field leadership, project teams, inspectors, and other trades to support safe, efficient, high-quality project completion.
  • Follow company safety policies, OSHA standards, PPE requirements, and safe work practices at all times.
