About The Position

Cetechs is seeking experienced Journeyman Pipefitters to support the Department of Veterans Affairs at the North Texas VA Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. This position supports critical hospital infrastructure by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plumbing, steam, gas, medical gas, and mechanical piping systems within an active healthcare environment. The Journeyman Pipefitter performs skilled maintenance, repair, and installation of various systems including medical gas, steam and condensate piping, domestic water systems, drain, waste and vent systems, plumbing systems, sterilizer equipment, laundry equipment, dietetic/kitchen equipment, and mechanical piping systems. Work is performed independently while coordinating daily assignments with VA personnel.

Requirements

  • Active Texas Journeyman Plumber/Pipefitter License
  • Minimum 4 years of Journeyman Pipefitter experience
  • OSHA certification
  • Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings
  • Experience with Commercial plumbing
  • Experience with Steam systems
  • Experience with Medical gas systems
  • Experience with High-pressure piping
  • Experience with Hospital or industrial facilities
  • Ability to lift, climb, crawl, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces
  • Ability to pass a federal background investigation

Nice To Haves

  • Previous VA, military, or hospital maintenance experience
  • Medical gas certification
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs
  • Experience working in occupied healthcare facilities

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and institutional piping systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematics.
  • Install and repair steam, gas, water, drainage, and medical gas piping.
  • Perform code-compliant installations and repairs.
  • Diagnose plumbing and mechanical system failures.
  • Complete daily work reports and timecards.
  • Report work status to the VA Contracting Officer Representative (COR).
  • Follow all OSHA, NFPA, VA, and Joint Commission safety requirements.
  • Wear required PPE at all times.
  • Work safely in mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, basements, rooftops, manholes, and other confined areas.
