About The Position

This position involves providing friendly and courteous service to customers in a meat department. The role requires knowledge of various tools and equipment, including power tools like saws, grinders, cubing machines, sealers, and wrapper machines. Responsibilities include weighing, wrapping, labeling, and pricing product, as well as cleaning equipment and tools. The meat cutter will perform all work in the service meat department, including cutting and preparing various cuts of meat, grinding meat, cubing steaks, and preparing product for the service meat case. Additional duties include suggestive selling, product sampling, receiving product, stocking and rotating product, reading shelf tags, following safety guidelines, providing cooking instructions, and maintaining temperature controls. The role also involves maintaining cleanliness of the work area and equipment, and pulling product from the service meat case for proper storage at closing. Other duties may be assigned by store management.

Requirements

  • 18 yrs+ to apply
  • Minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred (Internal Candidates)
  • Minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred (Store Support Center Teammates)
  • Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline)
  • Manager approval based on performance if invited for an interview

Responsibilities

  • Know how to perform work in service meat department.
  • Cut and prepare all cuts of meat including blocking beef, pork, lamb& veal
  • Grinding meat
  • Cube steaks & patty steaks
  • Prepare product for the service meat case
  • Suggestive selling and product sampling
  • Receive product from our warehouse
  • Stock, straighten and rotate product in meat cases and coolers
  • Read and understand shelf tags
  • Follow company safety guidelines when using equipment
  • Provide customers with proper cooking instructions
  • Check and maintain the proper temperature controls for coolers, freezers and cutting room
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area, equipment and meat cases following company safety and sanitation guidelines
  • At closing, pull product from service meat case for proper storage
  • Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management
