Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with manual machining
  • Familiarity operating CNC lathes and mills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Proficiency with machining calculations
  • Accurate use of precision measuring tools
  • Comfortable machining large parts
  • Ability to work through a variety of unique projects rather than repetitive production work
  • Trust your machining knowledge and mechanical aptitude to make sound decisions
  • Ability to confidently stand behind your work and solve challenges as they arise

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma, technical or vocational degree, machining certification, trade school certification, or equivalent training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining steps.
  • Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, and other machine tools to produce and repair precision parts.
  • Create sketches and modify part dimensions to match repaired or mating components.
  • Select and set up the right tooling, fixtures, and materials for each unique job.
  • Measure and inspect your work using precision tools, including calipers, OD and ID micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Adjust CNC lathes and mills as needed to improve machining accuracy and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot issues with parts or machining processes and communicate solutions with the team.
  • Maintain your machines and work area to keep the shop clean, organized, and safe.
