This role involves repairing machinery and mechanical or electrical equipment. The Journeyman - Machinery Maintenance Mechanic will examine machines and equipment to diagnose trouble, perform repairs using hand tools, replace or order replacement parts, and reassemble machines with necessary adjustments. The position also requires conversing with operators to identify issues, testing faulty equipment, diagnosing malfunctions, replacing defective components, and calibrating equipment according to specifications. Record-keeping of repairs, calibrations, and tests is essential, as is entering information into a computer for program copying or schematic management. The role requires reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation, as well as following verbal instructions. Responsibilities include assembling parts, routing cables, installing components, and connecting circuitry. Testing and repairing defective units, and installing/testing electrical lines and circuits in military shelters and vans are also key duties. This includes disassembling, repairing, troubleshooting, and replacing components within shelters and vans, as well as building custom electrical boxes. The position involves teamwork for in-house and TDY equipment repair and installation.
