About The Position

Ideal Mechanical/Pieper Power is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Journeyman Technician to join our team in Southeastern Wisconsin. This is a Union position, offering a full benefits package, company stock purchase program, and a company vehicle. The Journeyman Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial HVAC systems and components in accordance with current codes and safety standards. This role involves troubleshooting HVAC issues and making necessary repairs to ensure minimal downtime and high-quality customer satisfaction. The position requires strong technical skills, planning ability, and a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction. Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
  • Journeyman Certificate
  • Minimum 4 years previous HVAC Service experience
  • Willing to or currently is in Union
  • Positive safety attitude and personal integrity
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to commercial HVAC trade
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations
  • Skill in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of commercial system equipment and components

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems, including furnaces, condensing units, rooftop units, boilers, air handlers and unit heaters, and all of the associated components of these systems.
  • Diagnose, assemble, test, start-up and troubleshoot HVAC systems in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and regulations.
  • Operate commercial HVAC equipment to identify and resolve malfunctions effectively.
  • Review and interpret specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and execution sequence.
  • Ensure all completed work meets current local, state, and national codes.
  • Coordinate and prepare necessary tools, equipment, and materials in advance to meet project timelines.
  • Schedule and sequence work efficiently to align with customer deadlines and project goals.
  • Manage time, tools, and materials efficiently to support cost-effective job execution.
  • Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to eliminate waste and increase productivity.
  • Work cooperatively with other trades, departments, and teams to support overall project completion.
  • Communicate project progress, delays, or exceptions clearly with team members and customers.
  • Ensure a high standard of workmanship and service to encourage repeat business and positive referrals.
  • Address customer concerns professionally and promptly to maintain strong working relationships.
  • Pre-plan and identify methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task.
  • Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention.
  • Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support goal of achieving zero accidents.
  • Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed.
  • Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel.
