About The Position

Convergint is seeking a safety-focused and motivated Journeyman HVAC/R Technician to join our Maintenance team supporting industrial facilities in the Fort McMurray region at Suncor Base Plant. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of commercial and industrial HVAC/R equipment while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and workmanship. The successful candidate will be a team player with strong troubleshooting skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our customers. This is a 14/14 rotating shift with accommodation provided for the duration of your shift.

Requirements

  • Alberta Journeyman Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Certificate (or recognized Interprovincial Red Seal).
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract.
  • BSO/CSO.
  • Experience with commercial and industrial HVAC systems is required.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman Gas “A” considered a strong asset.
  • Fall Protection Certification is an asset.
  • Aerial Work Platform (MEWP) certification is considered an asset.
  • Confined Space Entry and H2S Alive are considered assets.
  • Experience in industrial maintenance, oil sands, or heavy industrial facilities is preferred.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC controls is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and commission commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on air handling units, rooftop units, split systems, exhaust systems, unit heaters, make-up air units, chillers, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues using industry-standard testing equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, specifications, and work orders.
  • Inspect existing HVAC/R systems and recommend repair or replacement solutions.
  • Install and replace HVAC/R equipment, piping, controls, and associated components.
  • Perform system start-ups, operational testing, and equipment commissioning.
  • Work closely with Sheet Metal Workers, Electricians, Plumbers, and other trades.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of completed work and maintenance records.
  • Follow all company, client, and regulatory safety requirements.
