Accurately diagnose, repair, and maintain all parts and components on class 5 through class 8 trucks and trailing equipment in a timely manner and quality fashion. This includes performing front-line mechanic inspections, preventive maintenance services, and DOT inspections on diesel and gasoline vehicles and trailers. The role involves diagnosing and repairing various systems such as air and hydraulic brakes, suspension, steering, starting and charging systems, drive trains (transmissions, clutches, drivelines, differentials), engines, and air conditioning systems. Technicians will utilize diagnostic tools like laptops, scanners, and wiring diagrams, and perform welding and fabrication. Minor repairs on semi-trailers and truck cargo boxes are also part of the responsibilities. The position may require responding to vehicle breakdowns in the field, assisting other mechanics, operating company vehicles safely, and performing occasional facility maintenance. Accurate documentation of repairs, labor hours, parts, and materials through maintenance software and daily worksheets is essential. Providing excellent customer service and maintaining professional conduct with all personnel are key aspects of the role. Maintaining safe and clean work areas, adhering to safety guidelines, and operating a forklift are also required.
