About The Position

Solar Alternatives is hiring a Journeyman Electrician in New Orleans to install solar, battery storage, and EV charging systems. The electrician will work alongside experienced crew leads on photovoltaic systems, Powerwall and other batteries, generators, and EV chargers. The company describes opportunities to develop skills through training and certifications and to advance from journeyman to crew lead.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, typically 40–50 hours per week, with some Saturdays as needed. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the regular rate. Compensation is $25–$35 per hour based on experience, with sales bonus opportunities and a $1,000 bonus after 90 days. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, with the company paying 50% of the employee premium; a 401(k) with a 3% company match; two weeks of earned PTO to start; and seven paid holidays.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a journeyman electrician.
• Working knowledge of the NEC; 2014/2017 editions are accepted, with 2020/2023 preferred.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Self-driven, with good time management.
• Verifiable references.
• Able to work unsupervised.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, stand and walk, and use hands regularly.
• Travel to job sites as required.

Nice To Haves

• Power generation experience.
• OSHA 10/30 certification.
• NABCEP certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Install equipment and conduit, pull wire, and terminate connections.
• Read prints and layouts and perform material take-offs.
• Test and record insulation resistance and IV curves.
• Configure devices, troubleshoot systems, and make repairs.
• Keep work code-compliant and the jobsite clean, and maintain vehicle stock.
• Follow safety guidelines and represent Solar Alternatives well with customers.
