The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and servicing photovoltaic (PV) solar electrical systems while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable electrical codes, company standards, and project specifications. This position serves as a technical leader in the field, working collaboratively with project teams to deliver high-quality solar installations and exceptional customer service. In addition to performing skilled electrical work, the Journeyman Electrician provides day-to-day guidance, training, and mentorship to Apprentice Electricians, helping develop their technical skills, reinforce safe work practices, and promote professional growth. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical expertise, integrity, accountability, and a positive, team-oriented attitude while contributing to a culture of safety, quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. This position requires regular travel to project sites and flexibility to support field operations as business needs require.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician License required
  • Valid Driver License with acceptable driving record, preferably with CDL
  • Strong technical skills

  • Must be able to stand and work on your feet for at least 8 hours per day and excessive overtime as required
  • Travel Required to muti-state region with extended overnight stays
  • Electricians required to have personal electrical tools on job sites
  • Applicants being considered for hire must pass a background check and drug test before beginning work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise teams of apprentice and journeyman electricians on commercial, industrial, and renewable energy construction, maintenance, and service projects.
  • Lead by example by working alongside crew members while providing coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance.
  • Coordinate daily work activities, assign tasks, and effectively manage job schedules to meet project deadlines.
  • Communicate professionally with project managers, customers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure successful project execution.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair photovoltaic (PV) solar systems, electrical controls, LED lighting, and other commercial and industrial electrical systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to ensure accurate installations.
  • Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot electrical wiring, conduit, cable, panels, equipment, and associated electrical components.
  • Perform project layout, planning, and preparation for electrical, PV solar, and lighting installations.
  • Complete electrical work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
  • Ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, and all applicable federal, state, and local codes.
  • Perform work in accordance with company quality standards, project specifications, and customer expectations.
  • Complete required inspections, documentation, reports, and project records accurately and on time.
  • Load, unload, transport, organize, and maintain tools, equipment, and materials at project sites.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, aerial lifts, forklifts, heavy equipment, and other construction equipment as authorized and required.
  • Inspect and maintain company tools and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by following company safety policies and ensuring all crew members do the same.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites that support safe and efficient operations.
  • Identify and report safety hazards and participate in corrective actions to minimize workplace risks.
  • Travel to project sites and work overtime, weekends, or extended hours as required to meet project schedules.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support company operations and project success.
